Our Story

Based in McKinney, Texas, Metro Linen Service provides laundry, linen rental and related services for Hospitality, Healthcare, Apparel and Special Event customers throughout Texas and Oklahoma.

Metro Linen Service was founded in 1947 by Frank Crowder, providing laundering services to the local Military Hospital, restaurants and other businesses in the area. Over the years the company expanded with accounts developed throughout Dallas, Fort Worth and the North Texas area. In 1987 the business was acquired by Roger Harris, identifying new industries with a need for textile rental services and expanding to new markets such as Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Oklahoma.

As the company has expanded, continual investment in state-of-the-art equipment, personalized customer care, and environmental stewardship ensures that we operate as efficiently as possible and will remain competitive for years to come. Our commitment to reducing our environmental impact has netted Metro Linen Service the coveted Clean Green Certification.

Today, with over 125 employees, a fleet of over 30 vehicles and an experienced team of experts, Metro Linen Service has become one of the largest independently owned and operated linen service companies in the state of Texas.

Our Green Commitment

Being Eco-friendly is a responsibility we take seriously. Our industry is ‘green’ by nature, as the very nature of our service helps our customers avoid contributing to pollution and water resource depletion. As we have grown, we have focused on clean operations and environmentally-friendly laundering technology, with significant investments to reduce energy usage, while reclaiming water and heat to reduce our impact on the environment. We recycle wherever possible, and while recognizing that some products need to be disposable for infection control, we place an emphasis on products which can be re-used. In particular, cotton, a major raw material for many of our products, is a sustainable and renewable resource, which is recycled at the end of its life rather than being sent to a landfill.

We are very proud of the fact that we are the first commercial laundry in Texas to earn the industry’s ‘Clean Green’ certification, signifying our production facilities meet the highest international standard for water efficiency, energy conservation, controlling sewage discharges and adopting best practices for reusing, reclaiming and recycling resources. As a Clean Green certified operation, our products are washed, dried and finished with techniques selected to maximize sustainability. We use best management practices (BMPs) such as:

    • Recovering heat from drained hot water and heat dispersed from the process of warming water
    • Recapturing drained water from rinses for reuse
    • Using environmentally friendly detergents
    • Removing solids and liquids from waste water
    • Solar energy and energy-efficient lighting
    • Recycling programs
    • Re-routing trucks to save vehicle fuel
    • Spill prevention plans
    • Preventive maintenance
    Our Process

    We offer full-service programs, with highly personalized service, hand-held technology and on-demand delivery systems to ensure that a ready supply of fresh linen, apparel and other supplies is something you will never have to worry about. We have you covered – So you can focus on your customers.

    Your Route Service Representative – As a trusted, single point of contact, your RSR manages your account, personalizing the program to your specific needs. They use smartphones to simplify delivery and inventory management, creating tickets, making adjustments as needed, getting approvals and creating invoices with no paper involved. The one person you ever need to call is the same person you see regularly, and you can be sure of their commitment to your success.

    On-Demand Delivery Platform – Allows us to establish what linen and supplies you have on hand, what you need and when you need it. We are able to evolve and adapt our systems to align with your own operations systems and the way you naturally do business. With no paper tickets involved, you simply sign in to our website for invoices and statements. We do everything else.

    Roger D. Harris

    President

    Roger has over 40 years’ experience in the linen service and laundry equipment industry and is often sought for his industry expertise.  He is actively involved in the community, serving on the City Council, Workforce Development, Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce Boards. Roger is passionate about leadership development, cross-country motorcycling and flying.

    Roy Cullum

    Director, Houston Operations

    Roy oversees the day to day operations and expansion of the Houston branch.  He works closely with our McKinney team to insure consistent quality and excellent service for our Houston area customers.

    Karen Cox

    Director of Operations

    Karen oversees the day-to-day department operation activities, while also serving as the Director of the special events division of Metro Linen Service, Moments by Metro.  Through her vision, Moments by Metro delivers the personal touch and the specialty linen, table and chair rental services that help make your event truly special.

    Kenny Warmke

    Director of Engineering

    Kenny is responsible for the nuts and bolts of the operation, literally.  He maintains all of Metro’s production equipment including Metro’s computerized wash system and maintains the entire fleet of vehicles and properties.  Kenny is one of the best engineers in the industry today and we make the most of his talents.
